My grandmother's recipe. The rolls are made at least one night before they are needed and can be kept in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
Ingredients
1 cup lukewarm water
½ cup melted butter
½ cup sugar plus 1 tablespoon
2 ½ teaspoons of yeast
3 beaten eggs
¾ teaspoon salt
4 cups of bread flour
Instructions
Mix yeast and water and 1 Tablespoon of sugar. Add melted butter, sugar and eggs. Add flour and salt and mix with a spoon. This dough can be left in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. Make dough a day or two ahead. Dough must be chilled to work. Make into rolls, I do crescent rolls. Let raise 3-4 hours and bake at 360 degrees for 10-15 minutes. Punch dough down after 2 hours of making and put back into the fridge.
